01 — The Challenge

Deep shade from the live oak meant grass never took. Every rain turned the yard to mud, and two labs carried it straight into the house.

The Lowcountry Oasis — the challenge

02 — The Plan

Protect the oak’s root zone, pull drainage toward the marsh, and lay a high-flow pet turf system with a curving oyster-shell path that the dogs naturally follow.

03 — The Build

Hand-excavated around roots, installed a permeable stone base pitched 1% to the rear, then laid pet turf with antimicrobial infill and fern-and-palmetto borders under the canopy.

The result

A yard that is green in the shade, dry after a storm, and rinsed clean in five minutes.

★★★★★

“Two labs, zero mud. We hose it off once a week and that is the whole routine.”
