Does Artificial Turf Drain? What Happens in a Lowcountry Downpour
Yes — when it is installed correctly. Water passes through the turf’s perforated or full-flow backing into a compacted crushed-stone base, which is graded to carry it away from the house. A well-built turf lawn usually drains faster than the compacted native soil it replaces, but turf cannot fix a yard that sits below the water table or collects runoff from neighbors without added drainage.
Every yard is different, so we quote each project individually after an on-site consultation. The biggest factors are square footage, how much excavation and base work the site needs, drainage, access, the turf product, and any landscape or hardscape work included.

Yes. Quality turf is non-toxic and soft, and we can add a shock pad under play areas and playsets. We recommend lighter, cooling infills rather than dark crumb rubber for residential play yards.
Yes, and it is one of the best uses for turf, because it does not need sunlight. Under live oaks we use a shallow, permeable base and avoid cutting major roots.
