The craft
Sullivan’s Island yards are small, sandy and salty, and the island’s look matters. Turf here should be quiet, natural and paired with coastal plants.
Artificial turf — some people call it artificial grass or synthetic grass — is only as good as what is under it. We build every lawn from the ground up: excavation, a compacted crushed-stone base graded to drain, and premium turf seamed and infilled by hand. It stays green through August and February alike — no mowing, watering or fertilizer.

Good questions.
The town has its own zoning and review requirements for some exterior changes. We check what applies to your property before planning visible front-yard work.
Yes. UV-stabilized turf on a stable base handles salt air well, and sand brushes or blows out easily.
Very little. Blow off leaves, rinse it down now and then, and give it a light brushing a few times a year to keep the fibers standing tall. No mowing, watering, fertilizing or weeding.
Our base is built drain-first: compacted crushed stone graded to move water away from the house, under turf with a perforated or full-flow backing. Most installs drain faster than the natural grass they replace.
Any surface warms in direct July sun. We reduce it with lighter, heat-reflective fiber blends and cooling infills, and we design shade and planting around the way you actually use the yard. A quick rinse cools it down fast.
A quality, professionally installed turf lawn typically lasts 15 years or more. The base and the install matter as much as the turf itself — that is where we spend our time.
